Charles Edmund Schackmann

C.E. “Chuck” Schackmann, 92 C.E. “Chuck” Schackmann died May 15, 2017, in Dallas, TX. Services will be held at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church (9643 Ferndale Rd. Dallas, TX) at 11:00am, Monday May 22, 2017, to be followed by a military burial service at D.F.W. National Memorial Cemetery. Mr. Schackmann was proceeded in death by his father, Leonard, and his mother, Beryl Schackmann.He is survived by his wife Patricia, his sons, John and Bill, their wives, Rhonda and Jeannette, his daughter, Kim, and his five grandchildren: Taylor, Drew, Juliana, Aaron, and Bari. He is also survived by his sister Lynn Dhom. Mr. Schackmann enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corp and served in the following Theaters: North Africa, South Atlantic, and South America. He was trained in cryptography and became a Crypt Analyst, encoding/decoding intelligence during World War II. He worked in Communications Development and proved flight capabilities of B-25 aircraft.Mr. Schackmann was discharged in 1945. After discharge, he earned a degree in Accounting and Business Administration from Illinois College. Mr. Schackmann worked for Sears for 43 years, serving as Director of Executive Development and Director of Customer Service before retiring. Mr. Schackmann was an avid golfer, Cub fan, and train enthusiast. He enjoyed his family and will be missed greatly.
