Donald Edwin Black

Don Black born on November 6, 1940, the first born to William and Dolly from Docena, Alabama, who is now deceased. Surviving are two sisters Gloria and Dolly. Father worked in he coal mines to age 48. At age 18 Don had joined the Navy just prior to his fathers death at 16 training as a navy medic in San Diego, California. After the 18 months of training Navy Don joined the University of Alabama Hospital in pediatric pulmonary unit as technician. They were the first to attempt heart transplant procedures in the US. In 1960 Don was Texas bound and has been here ever since. The last 40 years, Don was an entrepreneur and self-made business owner in the field of HVAC industry. Married in 1983, to Melanie for 31 years. Don, loved working, with contractors, loved helping people and helped many others launch into the industry. He loved riding his Harley and was an avid member of the Harley Davidson Riders Association of Garland. Texas. He loved to ride. watching his children play, he loved his church and his friends and family. Surviving Don is his wife, 2 sisters, 5 children, 6 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and 2 nieces. On September 18, 2013, Don went home. He rode his Harley for the last time. He will be missed by many. Interment at Oakland Cemetery, Birmingham, Alabama.
