Elbert Wayne Sanders

November 7, 1953 — November 1, 2013

Elbert Wayne Sanders On November 1, 2013, Wayne was greeted at heaven’s door by his Mother, Daddy, brother, favorite nephew and many other family and friends. Wayne was born November 7, 1953 and was the fourth of five children. As he would tell you, with a smile on his face, that meant you had to be quick at the dinner table and hope the hand-me-downs were not to worn out. Early in his life, Wayne learned from his father to work hard and save. This came easy to Wayne because he enjoyed people.Wayne worked at Jones Blair for 33 years.During that time, he would often say that he never used a sick day. Since Wayne worked from the early morning hours until 2:00 in the afternoon at Jones Blair, it only made sense to go find second job.Only a lazy man would go home at 2 he would say.So he began selling furniture for his brother-in-law at the House of Furniture (which incidentally was painted the brightest orange paint that Jones Blair sold). He continued working at House for over a decade making friends, telling jokes and always smiling. After working at House of Furniture, Wayne decided to open his own furniture store with his brother Rickey. During his 59 years, none were better than the last 14 that he spent with his wife Debra.Wayne never took many vacations before he met Deb (he preferred to work). However, once Deb came into his life, making her happy, made him happy. And making her happy meant going on vacations-which he did and liked it. At the time Wayne said goodbye, he left behind his memories to be cherished by his wife Debra, son Chris and wife Samantha, daughter, Melisa Jones, brother, Lynn Sanders and wife Jeanetta, brother, Rickey Sanders, sister, Llana Adley and her husband Ronny, sister-in-law, Linda Wells along with his grandchildren, nieces and nephews. More than anything Wayne loved his family, friends and a cold Miller Lite (but not always in that order).
