Homer Lee Hodge, 84, of Mesquite, passed away on the morning of Friday, March 9, 2018. Homer was born in Rains county Texas on September 19, 1933 to Lewis and Jessie Hodge. He was one of 12 brothers and sisters. He attended Wills Point schools and married Joy Hunsaker of Wills Point on October 16, 1953. They shared two children, son Terry Hodge, wife Sheryl, of Edgewood, and daughter Sandy Crouch, husband Robert, of Rockwall. Homer had three granddaughters, Chelsea Nations, husband Bryce Nations, of Grand Saline, Payton Spoor, husband Clayton Spoor, of Sunnyvale, and Brittany Jordan, husband Tyler Jordan of Katy. Anyone that knew Homer knew that his granddaughters were his world and he loved spending time with them. He was blessed to meet 4 of his great grandsons, Hodge, Hawkins, and Charlie Spoor, and Beau Nations. Homer and Joy, Terry and Sandy, grew up traveling the United States, from Colorado to Alaska and every where in between. His love for his family and passion for the outdoors took them to some of the most beautiful places in the world. If you were looking for Homer, you could generally find him somewhere enjoying nature. Whether it was fishing for salmon in Alaska, bear hunting in Idaho, elk hunting in Colorado, or simply wetting a line in east Texas. Homer was an avid outdoorsman and shared his joy with as many people as he could. Homer is survived by his loving wife, Joy Hodge, children, Terry Hodge and Sandy Crouch. He is also survived by siblings Wendell Hodge of Lake Tawakoni, Lon Hodge of Sherman, Jim Hodge of Forney, Annette Clemmons of Wills Point, and Patricia Hughes of Magnolia.
