Hope Temple Dakel ascended peacefully to heaven on June 28, 2018, just two days shy of her 37th wedding anniversary, after bravely battling cancer for 11 months. By God’s grace she passed peacefully in her home, after being able to spend several days surrounded by family and close friends. Hope was born to Dr. Joe and Cricket Temple on February 10, 1950, in Abilene, Texas. She was the middle of 7 children and held a special place in the hearts of her siblings. She was very aptly named as her strong faith was an encouragement to everyone she met. She was known for her kindness to all and strong optimism. Hope spent over 40 years as a teacher and educator in Texas, including 28 at Trinity Christian Academy in Addison. She was a beacon of light for countless students as director of the TCA Learning Lab.She was known as an advocate for her students and a second mother figure to many. She listened to and cared for each student and changed many lives of students and parents, as well as developing lifelong friendships with many teachers and coworkers.Hope was also an active member and volunteer in her church: most recently she loved rocking babies in the Church nursery. Most important to Hope was her role as a wife, mother, and grandmother. She had continual love for her family and made constant sacrifices for them. She was particularly proud of her grandchildren. Hope was predeceased by her parents Dr. Joe and Christine Temple, and her sister Joy Ross. She is survived by her husband Robert Lynn “Stump” Dakel, her three children: Jack Porterfield (Johanna), Hannah Harms (Lucas) and Robbie Dakel (Mallorie), her grandchildren Thomas Dakel, Colleen Dakel, Robert Harms, and Philip Dakel, Katlynn Leech, and Nathaniel Leech, as well as a baby granddaughter due in November. A memorial service will be held at Woodcreek Church (3400 E. Renner Road, Richardson, TX, 75082) at 2pm on Thursday, July 5.There will be a private family burial at the Dallas-Fort Worth Memorial Cemetery.
