Marianne Agnew Gray

April 23, 1935 — April 14, 2017

Surrounded by all of her children, our mother Marianne Agnew Gray, joined her parents Fred & Eva Agnew, our father Tom Gray, her grandson Jerod Gray, sister Dorothy Stewart, and brother Fred Agnew, Jr., in heaven April 14, 2017. Mom was born the third child of Fred & Eva in Dallas, Texas, April 23, 1935. She grew up on the family farm in Collin County and attended Community HS in Nevada, Texas. Her first job was with H. L. Hunt who found out mom was walking to work so he helped her purchase her first car in Houston, Texas. At the 1955 Homecoming for Community, she and dad were the only ones that weren’t married, so they began dating. They married and moved to Commerce, Texas where they had us girls, Shirley and Kathy. Joel came along when they moved to Fayetteville, Texas. They eventually wound up in Mesquite, Texas where Mom began working for Dr. Robert Allison. Twenty years later she embarked on a new career with AT & T where she worked for her beloved friend Mike Fricke. She adored he and his wife, Karyl, and relished in all of their children’s accomplishments.Mom took an early retirement and began traveling, mainly on cruises with her dearest friend, Sandy Gregg. Mom enjoyed photography and took great pride in pictures she took of her grandchildren’s sports/school activities, as well as her capture of the prettiest seas, Alaskan terrain, flowers, and birds. Mom had a pretty voice and joined the Mesquite Civic Chorus where she performed for several years. She established a sweet friendship with Darlene Holliman when she sang with the Reflections Chorus in Mesquite. Mom enjoyed music, photography, her friends, traveling and getting her nails done by Brian. But, most of all, she delighted in her three children and their families. Her smiling face could light up a room so heaven should be just a little bit brighter. Her three children survive her: Shirley Gray Rogers (Don) Kathy Gray, Joel Gray (Kathy.) Grandchildren: Leah Rogers Worthington (Josh) Wade Rogers (Mandy) Cord Gray, and Jordan Gray. Great grandchildren: Livy, Judah, Liam, Everitt, Lillian and Haven. Nieces and nephews and a multitude of friends. A special thank you to Golden Acres Living and Rehab Center and Compassus Hospice for their loving care and support for our mom when our sweet, loving, dedicated sister Kathy became unable to do so.
