Norry Roxanne Mahan age 32, passed away on June 19, 2017 in her home in San Antonio, Texas after a long battle with PTSD. Norry was born on September 25, 1984 in Saint Charles, Illinois to proud parents Medra Davison and Carl Mahan.Norry was a middle child.She had an older sister Rachel McGonigal and a younger brother Ryan Davison. Norry was a very intelligent happy child growing up.She gave 100% of herself in everything she did.She was so gifted that her teachers even started giving her extra books bought by them when she had read all the school books.In 1989, she moved with her mother to Texas.She became involved inDestination Imagination, a program of problem solving skills for young children. Later in her educational years, she received a Bachelor's degree in Science and Religion. She wanted to use her skills while serving her country after 911 and so in 2001, she joined the Army.She was deployed overseas to Iraq and she learned many languages like French, Farci, and Arabic.While in Military Intelligence at the Defense Language Institute, she wrote a curriculum program on languages to assist new military personnel deployed overseas called "Running Start'. While in the military, she received many coins, medals, and awards like Meritorious Service medal, 3 Commendation medals, 4 Achievement medals, 4 Good Conduct medals, National Defense Service medal, Iraq Campaign medal, Global War on Terror Service medal, Armed Forces Reserve medal with Mobilization Reserve Device, NCO Professional Development Ribbon, and Soldier of the Instillation Promotion Board at Fort Sill. Even though she traveled the world, her heart was away with her family.Norry was survived by her grand parents Rich & Ruth Omodt; Carl & Sharon Davison; and Emma Gogel; mother Medra Davison, and Father Carl Mahan & wife Chris; Sister Rachel McGonigal & husband Jason; and brother Ryan Davison; her aunts, uncles, and nephews (Michael and Joseph) and her loving dog Patrick.Norry was predeceased by her grandfather Wayne Mahan Sr. Norry will have a graveside service, presided by Pastor Randy Wade, at Blairsville Illinois on July 3, 2017 at 10:00 am. and will be laid to rest near her extended family. Norry's family would like to invite all those with would like to show their respect to donate to the "Fisher House" (see link) in lieu of flowers.www.fisherhouse.org
