Susan Kay Phillippi

Susan Kay Phillippi , 64 of Mesquite,passed away May 6, 2015 at home due to complications of ovarian cancer. Memorial service will be 2:00PM - Friday May 15, 2015 at New Hope Funeral Home, 500 E. Hwy. 80, Sunnyvale, Texas 75182. Susan was born June 30, 1950 to Robert and Florian Frazier.Susan graduated from Iola High School in 1968 and went on to graduate from St. Francis School of Nursing in 1971.In 1996 she married the love of her life, Samuel Phillippi.Preceded in death by her biological parents. She is survived by her husband, Samuel E. Phillippi; children, Jennifer Bennett of Portland, OR; Julie Kabriel of Des Moines, IA; Brian Anderson of Mesquite, TX; step-children; Joel Phillippi of California; Laura Phillippi of Leavenworth, KS; step-mother, Emma Frazier; 6 siblings; grandson, Samuel Graham Kabriel. Susan dedicated her life to serving others as a nurse and a teacher. She spent 44 years working as a nurse both on the intensive care unit and as a nurse manager.She helped countless patients, trained numerous nurses, and most recently helped train residents in family medicine at Baylor. Her legacy will live on in the many lives she touched. The family asks that in lieu of flowers please consider making a donation to the American Cancer Society, a cause that Susan spent time raising money for and was passionate about.
