Sybil Joann Matthews

Sybil Joann Matthews was born on December 5, 1930 in Amarillo, Texas and passed away on September 23, 2016 in Mesquite Texas. Sybil, know as Joann by her Peden relatives, is survived by her husband of 40 years, Sylvester Matthews; their children:Steve Keyes (wife Becky), Linda Mattoon (husband Rod), Laurie Campbell (husband Stacy), John Keyes (wife Chris), Steve Matthews (wife Tonya) Grandchildren: Angela Keyes, Aaron Keyes, Adam Keyes, Holly Wright, Joshua Mattoon, Rashelle Kenny, Katie Hackathorn, Micah Mattoon, Andrea Mattoon, Autumn Mattoon, Benjiman Webb, Valerie Gray, Shelby Keyes, Catherine Keyes, Stephen Matthews, Jacob Matthews, Moriah Simmons, Berean Matthewsand 20 great grandchildren. Sybil was married to Bob Keyes in 1950 and two sons were born to this union, Steve and John. Her first husband passed away in 1974 after a long illness. In July 1976, she married Sylvester Matthews who instantly added three more children to her life. Sybil showed the same unconditional love for his children as she did for her own. She was an ideal pastor's wife, a great mother, and an outstanding grandmother and great grandmother. She was a special lady. A visitation will be held for Sybil on Monday September 26, 2016 from 5:00PM-8:00PM at New Hope Funeral Home in Sunnyvale, Texas. Funeral Service will be on Tuesday September 27, 2016 at 10:00AM at Open Door Baptist Church 1212 South Beltline Road Mesquite, Texas 75149 with interment to follow at New Hope Memorial Gardens in Sunnyvale, Texas.
