Wanda May Conti

Cherished Wanda May Conti, 51, loving widow of Richard Conti, passed away in Mesquite, Texas peacefully at 10:04am, Thursday, March 19, 2015. She was born January 6th, 1964 in Cooperstown, New York and was the daughter of late Clarence Edward Mickel Jr and Valerie Gene (Slater) Mickel.Wanda truly adored her husband, Richard Conti, who was a retired Vietnam Veteran, with over 25 years of service to our country and she now finally gets to join him. Wanda was preceded in death by her precious niece Stephanie Mickel; she leaves to cherish her memory 2 daughters, Kimberly Hiett and Patricia Prestidge, 2 handsome grandsons Dylan Hiett and Wyette Conklin.Beloved brother, Steven Mickel, wife Marjorie Mickel and sister Jennifer Wolcott, beautiful nieces and nephews: Cassandra Van Buren, LJ Kukenberger Jr, Kayla Henne, Scott Kinsey, Whisper Kinsey, Steven Mickel, Faelynn Mickel, great nieces and nephews: Allison Van Buren, Meghan Van Buren, Dalton Van Buren and a host of countless unlisted cousins, aunts, uncles, church family, friends, neighbors and acquaintances. Wanda graduated from Cooperstown Central High School in 1982, and continued her education and sharpened her taste buds by studying Culinary Arts.Subsequently, she joined the Army National Guard, and later was appointed as a designated head chef and received several commendations, medals, pins and awards. She adored spending time with and talking to her daughters, grandchildren,four-legged furry grandchildren (Adrianna, Roscoe, and Crazy), her many family members in addition to all the love for family, she greatly enjoyed the simple things in life, helping other people, cooking, sewing, knitting, crocheting and more. Memorial services will be conducted at 1:00pm, Friday, March 27, 2015 at New Hope Funeral Home, Sunnyvale, Texas. We are so blessed to have Pastor Bob Cavin of our wonderful Mimosa Lane Baptist Church officiating the services.Wanda will be laid to rest with her husband, Richard at BG William C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery in Wrightstown, New Jersey.
