Obituary for Addie Lee Dobbs March 20, 1930 – February 23, 2019 Addie Lee Ray Dobbs passed away Saturday, February 23, 2019 at the age of 88 in Dallas, Texas.Addie Lee was preceded in death by her husband of 71 years, Robert J. Dobbs, her parents Sarah Novelle Fischer, step-father Frank Fischer and father, Jesse Ray, and brothers Alvin Edward Ray and Kenneth Delon Ray. She is survived by her sons Robert (Becky) and Randel (Janna), her grandchildren Jeff Dobbs (Brandy), Rusty Dobbs, Sara Campbell (Cody), Andy Dobbs (Carolyn), Megan Meeks (Landry), Molly Pope (Josh), and Melissa Bereuter (Cliff); her great grandchildren Jacob and Emily Dobbs, Jayci Dobbs, Davis and Ezra Campbell, Georgia and Mara Pope, and Sam Dobbs. She is also survived by her sisters, Shirley Harris (Bobby), Kathy Howard, and Anita Bennett (Chris), her brother Wesley Ray (Cinthy), her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jack and Barbara Dobbs and numerous nephews, nieces and friends. Addie Lee was born in Cullman County, Alabama on March 20, 1930 to Jesse and Sarah Ray. She grew up in Hartselle, Alabama where she married Robert Jefferson Dobbs on June 7, 1947 when she was 17. They moved to Texas shortly thereafter and moved to Forney in 1959 to the farm that would be their home for the remainder of their 71 years of marriage. Addie Lee was a housewife, but she helped tend the farm and a large garden that produced the fruits and vegetables that she prided herself in canning every year.She will forever be known for her large, beautiful flower garden that was clearly visible to travelers on FM 740.She enjoyed teaching the Beginners Sunday School Class, attending Women’s Mission Union and church at First Baptist Church of Forney and studying her Bible. After Jeff’s retirement, they enjoyed traveling, entertaining their grandchildren, and gardening. She will be remembered for her kindness to others, her sweet personality, and her love for her family, life, and God.
