Dennis Baskin

August 19, 1934 — May 11, 2020

Dennis Baskin was born August 19, 1934 in Martins Mill, Texas and went to be with the Lord on May 11, 2020 in Dallas, Texas. He graduated in 1958 with a Geology degree from Texas Tech University. He holds a Class A Air Conditioning License and a Master Plumbing License. He had 3 children, Rick Baskin, Robin Baskin Thomas, and Stacy Baskin. If any of us needed help with something our dad was there for us.We have so many memories with our dad and each of us has special memories of our own.He had four grandchildren, Cody, Kristen, Kathleen, and Katy.He was an involved grandfather who attended each one of their baseball, basketball, volleyball, and dance recitals. They all can tell you about a game each one of them had where they could hear their grandpa in the stands yelling at a referee for making what he thought was a bad call. There were even times he was warned by the referee’s one more outburst and you will have to leave. They all will tell you that one game where grandpa did or said this or that.He had four great-grandchildren twins, Jayson and Jayden, Tinsley and the one he didn’t get to meet because he is in the oven, Little Liam due the first of September. He loved us all the same and what he did for one of us he did for all of us. He met Myra Belz through work and soon they became partners, she attended all of his grandkids events as did Dennis attend her boys David and Bobby’s events. He was there for David and Bobby when they needed advice and it gave the boys comfort in knowing their Mom was with someone who was truly there for her. Each year at Labor Day, Dennis would go to Ruidoso to meet up with Bobby, David, their spouses and Stacy. They would all go to the horse races and Dennis and the boys would study those racing guides looking for that big win. After Myra’s passing Dad spent almost every weekend visiting with Stacy and her mom, Mary.Driving to Euless was his weekly adventure on weekends where you could always find a ballgame or a western movie on TV.They went on adventures to farmers markets, trips to Costco and always trips to bookstores.Saturday mornings were really special when he would tell stories about when he was a boy, and then back to work on Mondays. Equally as important to his family was his work. His work associates were his second family. The man could not retire and go fishing, he wanted to work. He began his career in the Plumbing and Heating business fresh out of college working for Berg Plumbing and Heating in Borger Texas. When he moved to the Dallas area he would work for Burden Brothers, Continental Mechanical, and Don Burden and Associates. He tried retiring but wanted something to do so he ran a few jobs for Robin’s company, Mascot Construction. He then decided to work for Texas General, and his final employment was with Mechanical Partners. There may have been others too, but those are the ones we remember.Along the way he met many people who he remained friends with to this day.Preston Wood, Gary Rambo, Melvin Fox, Ron Moser, Don Burden and Blake McEvers.Blake was Dad’s work son.He came home telling us that Blake was married to a girl who Robin cheered with on Pee Wee drill many years back and Rick had played football with her brother. He could still remember many kids’ names on all the different teams. We got to hear many stories about Blake. Our dad also had many stories about hunting trips with the guys from work and Rick.He had lots of stories to tell and some he probably should have left at the deer lease. This past year, the one person we heard about almost each visit was Ron Moser and what he was doing. We’re sure there are many others we haven’t named that meant just as much to him. When our dad met someone, he remembered them. He is also survived by his brother John and Geneva Baskin, nieces M’Lissa Baye and Kris Baskin, nephew John Baskin and their children. He was always so interested in all of your lives and so proud of you all. He could name the season records for every school where you taught. He talked of each of your accomplishments and your children’s accomplishment. He loved hearing about them all.He liked seeing the video’s and hearing the stories of Sunnye’s son Calloway and his life and then new baby Kate.Family was important to him. We want you to know our dad accomplished a lot and lived a good life.He worked on many buildings in the Dallas area as well as the US embassy in Russia and projects in Saudi Arabia and many other places. Our dad had a full life that was cut to short by complications from a fall that led to other medical issues and deteriorating health. This day came too soon. Our dad would want you to go on with your lives and remember him as someone you could truly call your friend. We will always remember our dad as someone who loved us, his work and work family.Thank you for being here and celebrating his life with us.
