Douglas Duff Layne

Douglas Layne, age 77, of Mesquite, TX, passed February 19, 2020. He was born September 9, 1942 in Waxahachie, TX to Asa Dean and Dorothy Meadows Layne. Douglas worked many years for the US Post Office. One of Douglas’ joys was sitting on his front porch with a cup of coffee watching the people going by. He also enjoyed gardening and taking care of his yard. His greatest treasure though was spending time with his family, most especially his grandchildren. Douglas is preceded in death by his beloved wife Judy; his parents; and four brothers, Garvin Joe, Asa Dean, Murray and Don. Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, February 25, 2020 at New Hope Funeral Home Chapel, with Bro. Richard Flowers officiating. A Private family interment will follow at New Hope Cemetery.A gathering of family and friends will take place from 6:00-8:00 PM on Monday evening, February 24, 2020 at New Hope Funeral Home.
