Erma Nell Mahar, age 97, quietly passed to her Heavenly reward on Thursday, August 23, 2018 at her place of residence at Town East Nursing Facility in Mesquite, Texas. Erma was born on July 29, 1921 in Hamburg, Arkansas to Charlie and Belle (Rice) Burchell.She was the youngest daughter of five siblings.She was raised in Hamburg where she attended school and worked picking cotton.She was married at 16 to LeRoy Bunn.She concieved two daughters, Peggy and Becky.She later divorced and moved to Monticello, Arkansas where she became a student advisor at the University in Monticello.She also received her barber’s license and owned a beauty salon.Later Erma moved to Hot Springs, Arkansas where she met William Mahar of Quitman, Arkansas and worked as a salesclerk at a shoe store, from there she moved to California where their son Michael wasw born.After a couple of years they moved to Texas where their daughter Melanie was born. Erma managed a clothes store in Big Town Mall in the 60’s.The family moved once again to Corpus Christi, Texas where they owned twoshoe departments in Colbert/Volk.In the late 70’s the family moved back to Dallas, where she managed several clothes and shoe stores in the city.After she retired she enjoyed baking cookies, playing Bingo, dancing, gardening.She lived by herself through her 80’s until she could no longer do so.She lived out her days at Town East Nursing Facilities until she passed away quietly. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Belle (Rice) Burchell, a brother, Roscoe Lambert, two sisters, Lorene Pennington, and Duell Watt, daughter, Peggy (Bunn) Stagg, son, William Michael Mahar, grand daughter, Stormie Jobe. She is survived by her daughters, Becky (Bunn) Jobe of Mesquite, Texas and Melanie (Mahar) Jeffrey of Quitman, Arkansas; brother, Wilburn Burchell of Harrison, Arkansas; 9 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews who loved her dearly. A Memorial Celebration of her life will be held at Town East Nursing facilities 3617 O’Hare Mesquite, Texas 75150 on Wednesday August 29, 2018 at 2:00PM to honor her and those who loved her dearly.The service will be officiated by Rev. Cooper from Heart to Heart Hospice. “But those that wait on the Lord shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings as eagles.”Isaiah 40:31
