Ferrell worked at the Dallas Cotton Mill, National Casket Company, Kroger’s, and retired from Steakley Chevrolet after 22 years in 1986. He was a hard-worker who always provided for his family and even built his own home in 1982 in Forney, Texas while still working full-time at Steakley Chevrolet. He would use every free moment working on his dream home for himself and his wife, Tense. It took him two years, and he would proudly say that he personally put every nail into his dream home. Ferrell became a baptized Christian in October 1980. He was a member of Mesquite Church of Christ for 39 years. His devotion to his family and his firm belief in God supported him in his health struggle and ultimately gave him peace.
