Frances Ann Rasmussen

July 2, 1936 — December 26, 2019

Frances (Frankie) Ann Rasmussen, a long-time resident of Mesquite, Texas, died peacefully at home the day after Christmas, December 26, 2019. Born in 1936 in Dallas, TX, Frankie was raised in a small house in Oak Cliff, with loving, Christian parents, and a sister at her side. While there was never much money around, Frankie was raised to appreciate what she had and learned that the most valuable things are faith, family, and friends. Frankie graduated from Adamson High School in 1954 and quickly turned her sights to the bright lights of downtown Dallas. Taking a job with Southwestern Bell, she worked as a tele-typist from 1954 to 1967. This job would lead her right into the arms of Fred, who really wanted to meet the cutest girl on the city bus. In 1964, Frankie and Fred eloped, and were lovingly married for 55 years until her passing.Michael, their son, came along in 1969 and Frankie took the role of family caretaker. Frankie loved to travel and spend time in the mountains of Colorado.Going from coast-to-coast pulling the travel trailer, she saw much of the USA on the many trips she took with family and friends. Frankie was a member of Meadow View Church of Christ for 42 years. She loved her God and put him first. She enjoyed serving in many areas of her church, and especially in the Cradle Roll class, where she nurtured the youngest of God’s creation. Family time was most important, too. The celebration of birthdays, holidays, anniversaries, and special family events brought such happiness to Frankie’s heart. And her sheer enjoyment of “giving” versus “receiving” warmed her soul and ours. Frankie has a wealth of friends. Her sweet spirit and warm, friendly smile made her irresistible to kids and adults alike. She loved good food and socializing, playing games, garage sales, Coca-Cola, and most of all, just being with others. Frankie is preceded in death by her father, Owen Wright, and Ima Wright, of Dallas, Texas. Frankie is survived by her husband, Fred Rasmussen, of Mesquite, son, Michael Rasmussen, daughter-in-law, Carolyn Rasmussen, and grandsons, Blake Rasmussen and Grant Rasmussen, of Lucas.Survived also by Sister, Linda Moore, of Mesquite, nephew, Chuck Moore and wife Sandy Moore, of Rockwall, and niece, Cheryl Salinas, and husband, John Salinas, of Grand Prairie. Great-nieces and Great-nephews include Charles Moore and wife, Amy Moore, of Farmersville, and their son Ryan Moore. Jonathan Moore, of Rockwall, Amy Moore and fianc, Kevin Guiles, of Frisco, Romello Salinas and Madelyn Salinas, of Grand Prairie. And the many cousins of our extended family.
