Geneva (Jenny) M. Newton Geneva (Jenny) M. Newton, age 90, passed peacefully into her reward of eternal bliss August 22, 2018 after a brief hospitalization. The youngest of eight children, she was born in Marshall County, KY on September 4, 1927 to Johnnie B. Edwards and Annie E. (Dowdy) Edwards.She grew up as a Kentucky farm girl until her mid 20’s.At that time, she moved to the ‘big city life’ of Detroit, MI.It was in Detroit that she married her husband Thomas Earl Newton.Shortly after their marriage, Tom establish his own business suppling parts to the Big-3 auto companies.The business grew and as it did Jenny made a career working as secretary at T.E. Newton Tool Company.After Tom’s death, she moved to retired life.She resided in Michigan for 50 years until moving to Texas IN 2003. She is survived by loving son Greg Thomas Newton, Mesquite, TX; foster son Richard S. Kirk, Mesquite, TX; Foster grandson Brandon S. Kirk, Iron Mountain, MI; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Thomas, brothers Clifton Edwards, Alvie Edwards, Euclid Edwards and sisters Elcie Edwards, Wilma Odell Hurt, Lena Estill Lynch and Ava Nell Schroader. In her later life, Jenny was a well-seasoned traveler, having visited all 50 U.S. states and several international countries and cities.She possessed an unquenchable love for children throughout her life.That passion started early in Michigan where she assisted in the church nursey every Sunday morning for 20 years.Her love was not confined to just babies but extended to all people. She was benevolent to many Children’s Homes and the Dallas Veteran’s Hospital. A visitation and celebration of Jenny’s life will be held Monday, August 27, 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. at New Hope Funeral Home, Sunnyvale, TX.Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, August 28 at 1:00 P.M. at Meadow View Church of Christ, Mesquite, TX. Interment will be at Long Creek Cemetery, Sunnyvale, TX. Never content to sit idle, she was well recognized for sewing baby blankets and knitting baby caps for the “Baby Blanket Ministry” of the Meadow View Church of Christ.She had completed numerous baby caps up until the last few days of her life.Although physically limited and unable to travel even to church for the past few years, her hands were working for her Lord up until the end.
