George Karl Felkner George Felkner, age 69, entered into his eternal heavenly rest on July 15, 2019 in Dallas, Texas.With his beloved wife Carolyn by his side, his final days were spent surrounded by family and friends sharing the many testimonies of George’s profound impact on their life. George was born October 7, 1949 in Texas City, Texas to George and Elfy Felkner.Following his graduation from Texas City High School, George joined the United States Navy where he bravely served his country during the Vietnam War.He completed six years of naval service where he rose to the rank of Petty officer third class.After his discharge, George initially worked in carpentry and then went on to a 30 year career in sales including 15 years with Impression Graphics later known as Ussery Printing. George was passionate about His Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and was well known for sharing the gospel and asking everyone he met where they went to church.He was a current member of First Baptist Church of Rockwall and part of Servant’s Heart Sunday School Class. He faithfully served the Lord for many years through numerous organizations.He was a member of Mimosa Lane Baptist Church for over 20 years.During that time, George served as a Greeter where he was well known for passing out life savers.He also acted as Director of Men’s Ministry for many years and led Pit Stop, a car maintenance ministry serving senior adults, single ladies and many others.After his retirement, George was very involved with Texas Baptist Men Disaster Relief and held the position of Blue Cap overseeing a feeding unit.He was privileged to be able to travel to Cuba on a mission trip with TBM.George volunteered in several Experiencing God workshops and was also an active volunteer with Relay for Life.George counted his 36 years of sobriety as one of his greatest accomplishments and had an active role in Alcoholics Anonymous where he mentored and encouraged many people. George is survived by his wife of 13 years, Carolyn; daughter Dr. Jolene Mendel; step-son Bruce Jackson and wife Geneva; grandsons Ryan and Kyle Jackson; and sisters, Judy Waggoner and Kathy Gustafson. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Elfy Felkner. Memorial contributions may be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society at www.LLS.org When facing treatment for leukemia, George leaned on the following scripture: “Count it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds…” James 1:2
