Geraldine Ann Baechtle

Geraldine “Jerry” Baechtle passed away peacefully in Mesquite, Texas on February 23, 2019 at the age of 87. Jerry was born on March 12, 1931 in New York City. Growing up in the Bronx as a young child, she moved to New Jersey during her teenage years.Jerry became a mother in 1950 when her son Jack was born.A year later she was blessed with a daughter, Kathy. Jerry married the love of her life, Richard “Richie” Baechtle, on July 6, 1963. Richie adored Jerry and her children, and they followed their children to Mesquite, Texas in the 1970s. Jerry worked at the Texas Department of Transportation for 13 years before retiring in 1989.She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, cooking, sewing, needlepoint, decorating her home, and traveling. Jerry was preceded in death by her husband of 37 years, Richard Baechtle. She is survived by her two loving children, John Kresge and Kathy Mascaritola. Jerry is also survived by her daughter-in-law, Regina Kresge, and son-in-law, Frank Mascaritola.She is also survived by eight grandchildren and their spouses: Lauren Rogers (Chuck), Ashley Nix (Jeremy), Frank Mascaritola (Jennifer), Lindsay Hart (James), Kimberlee Noteboom (Austin), Matthew Kresge (Katie), Nicholas Kresge (Hope), and Holley Kresge. Jerry is also survived by 12 great-grandchildren: Macy, Madelyn, Sara, Hudson, Preston, Naomi, Callie, McCoy, Jude, Kinsley, Caleb and Josephine. She also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Jerry will be remembered for the love she had for family, her caring and giving heart, her grandkid sleepovers, and her amazing desserts - especially her Christmas pastries and her homemade cinnamon rolls. We will all so miss our Mom, Granma, and Grammie. Jerry’s family would like to express their deepest appreciation to her caregiving staff at Assisted Living Cottage and her hospice aide. Leanne, Diann, Mona, Shelia, Jade, Denise and Bridget loved and cared for Jerry as if she were their own family.We will forever be grateful that they cared for her as well as she cared for us. Services will take place at New Hope Funeral Home in Sunnyvale, Texas. Visitation is scheduled for Sunday, March 3rd from 5:00 to 7:00 pm and a memorial service honoring her life will take place on Monday, March 4th at 2:00 pm.
