Johny James Fassoth

December 2, 1952 — August 4, 2019

Age 66, of Arlington, Texas passed away Sunday, August 4, 2019. Johny was born in the Philippines and grew up and attended his school years in Schererville and St. John, Indiana. He was a resident of Texas for the past 30 years. He is survived by his wife Diane of 29 years, his father Vernon (Loreta) Fassoth of San Diego, California. Three children: Eric (Debbie) Fassoth of Sunnyvale, Texas, John Fassoth of Griffith, Indiana, Erica (Michael) Cabrera of Garland, Texas, along with 9 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Brothers and Sisters: Hans (Lois) Fassoth of Dyer, Indiana, Connie Knupp of Katy, Texas, Lily (Alfred) Goer of Highland, California, Bill Fassoth of Crown Point, Indiana, Joe (Dee) Fassoth of Dallas, Texas, Monica (Hayes) McBride of Albion, Indiana, Patricia Fassoth of Merrillville, Indiana, Paul (Lisa) Fassoth of Kona, Hawaii, Erlinda Fassoth of Garland, Texas, Garrett (Nancy) Fassoth of Crown Point, Indiana. He was preceded in death by his Mother, Aurora Fassoth (2001) and his Brother, Martin Fassoth (2006). Johny loved being around family. Family reunions were the best times for him. The smell of BBQ grills, the popping open of cans and bottles, horseshoes, and the sounds of bags hitting on a cornhole board surface, these were the sights and sounds Johny loved to hear. But the game he loved most was playing cards with the guys. He was not the type to flaunt his love, but for those who really knew him, his love ran deep especially for his children, Eric, Johnny, Erica, grandkids and his Love of 29 years, Diane. His love was pure and from the heart. He had a quiet demeanor, unassuming and genuine. Very much like Mom and Martin. Johny loved motorcycles and his favorite time was riding with Eric on Saturdays. He looked forward to those rides and to spend time with his son meant a lot to him. Johny was not afraid of work, he was always there to lend a hand to anyone that needed it. He enjoyed working with his brother Joe and his son Eric. He also loved to cook, he would call family members and ask for recipes like Bistek and Chicken Adobo, that was his favorite dish. He was a true Filipino in that sense. Not having served in the military, Johny was very patriotic and loved our Country. He would often be seen wearing patriotic tee shirts and headbands. Last but not least, he enjoyed going to the Casino’s around Texas. When you left us for a better place, the void in our hearts will be forever. Until we meet again. Rest in Peace!
