Roy D Boldin

July 21, 1947 — October 25, 2019

Dewayne was born on July 21, 1947 and returned peacefully to his heavenly home on October 25, 2019 surrounded by his family. Dewayne enlisted in the Army on August 27, 1964. He was immensely proud of his military service with the 101st Airborne Division. He earned his Parachutist badge and Sharpshooter Badge before being deployed with the very first 101st Airborne unit to arrive in Vietnam. He served in Vietnam from 1965 – 1966. His 101st Airborne unit was attached to the 1st Brigade, 2nd Battalion, 327 Infantry, B Company where he served as a medic. Dewayne was awarded the Vietnam Service Medal, National Defense Service medal and Combat Medic Badge for his service. If you had the honor of spending time with Dewayne you heard one of his many stories from his time with the 101st Airborne Division. Whether you knew him as Dewayne, DW, Dad, Grandpa, Buddy, Bo or ‘Joppee Pimp’, he was sure to leave an impression. It may have been a story from his military service, working on the assembly line at the Ford plant in Dallas, General Leasing Finance Corporation or the UP Railroad or maybe one of the thousands of jokes he told. He was never at a loss for a joke or two or three. People he didn’t know were just friends he had not met yet. Dewayne is survived by his wife, Ginger Boldin; Mother, Jean Boldin; Daughter, Sherri and husband Mike Spruill; Son, Shane Boldin; Step Daughter, Renae and husband Donald Seeger; Step Son, Kevin Cook and wife Jennifer; Grandchildren, Brandon Spruill and wife Heather; Shelbi Spruill, Grant Spruill, Giavanna, Brett Seeger, Tyler Seeger, Kelsey Cook, Kaden Cook, Lauren Cook; Great-Grandchildren, Blayke Lee; Hade; Lane Seeger; Sisters, Donna and husband Richard Hickson; Debbie and husband Robert Tyson; also survived by several nieces and nephews; and lifelong friends Jimmie George and wife Nelda; John Meyer; Tommy Altom.
