Willie Thurman "W.T." Gibbs February 12, 1929 – May 19, 2018 Graveside services for Willie Thurman “W.T.” Gibbs, 89, of Mesquite, TX will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 23, 2018, at New Hope Memorial Gardens, 500 East Hwy 80, Sunnyvale, TX.Arrangements are being handled by New Hope Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens. W.T. passed peacefully on Saturday, May 19, 2018.He was born in Wilson, Oklahoma to Lillian Chambers and William M. Gibbs, who preceded him in death. W.T. was a longtime resident of Brownfield, TX where he owned and operated Gibbs Meat Market.He then built and operated the Holiday House Inn and Restaurant that would later become The Crystal Palace.W.T later went on to establish Gibbs Construction Company that he started in Brownfield, TX and then moved the company to Dallas, TX. W.T. is survived by one daughter, Phyllis Wright, of Forney, TX; and two sons Tony and Danny Gibbs of Garland, TX. He is also survived by seven grandchildren; Brenna Ellis, Kevin Ellis, London Gibbs, Tara Gentry, Madison Blakley, Parker Gibbs and Preston Gibbs, as well as one great-granddaughter Kassie Lankford.W.T. is also survived by one brother Jay Gibbs and three sisters, Alene Clawson, Marie Davis, and Betty Peach, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. W.T.’s family wants everyone to know “he did it his way”.
