April 15, 1935 — April 7, 2021

Alice Lorene Puyear (Smithart) April 15, 1935 – April 7, 2021 Alice Lorene Puyear (Smithart) was born to Melvin and Virgie Mae Smithart, in Caddo, OK on April 15, 1935. She and her family moved to Dallas when she was 15 years old. Lorene was born in the middle of the Great Depression and lived a hard life before coming to Dallas and becoming old enough to work, which she did until she retired at the age of 81. Lorene was blessed with a loving family. She married Lonnie Puyear on March 27, 1953 in Dallas, TX. She and Lonnie brought Michael Royce Puyear home on August 31, 1966 and raised him like a true only child, spoiled rotten. But her favorite child is her daughter-in-law, Tamara Puyear. Lorene has five grandchildren – Moriah Engelbrecht, Gabrielle Pierce, Josiah Puyear, Callista Puyear, and Constance Puyear. She has one great-grandson, Hendrik Engelbrecht, and one more on the way. She was known as, Loraine, for 65 of her 86 years of friendships and working life. For 15 years she worked in Quality Control at Frito Lay, five years as a Crossing Guard for Mesquite Public Schools and AT&T, and seven years with Safeway Foods in their warehouse. In order to make a change in her career she attended Crosier Technical School and upon completion entered the beauty industry. She worked for 30 years in the beauty industry in Heath and Rockwall. Lorene was a member of First Baptist Church Sunnyvale for 30 years. In 2014 she became a member of First Baptist Rockwall. She loved the Lord Jesus Christ and shared His gospel unashamedly with family and friends. Lorene entered her eternal heavenly reward on April 7, 2021 at 12:25 PM. Her son and daughter-in-law were holding her hands as she shed this mortal life and put on immortality. She is preceded in death by her husband Lonnie Puyear; her parents Melvin and Virgie Mae Smithart; and her brother Melvin “Ray” Smithart. She is survived by her son Michael Puyear and his wife, Tamara; her grandchildren Moriah, Gabrielle, Josiah, Callista, and Constance; her great-grandson, Hendrik; her brothers George Smithart, Raymond Smithart, Peggy Robbins, Jerry Smithart, Paul Smithart, and numerous nieces, and nephews.
