Alvin Benat

March 12, 1947 — August 24, 2021

Alvin “Al” Louis Benat was born on March 12, 1947 in Dallas, Texas, to his parents Otto and Jerri Benat. At the age of 74 years young, Alvin passed away on Tuesday, August 24, 2021, with family at his side.

Alvin is a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served during the Vietnam War. He had a great love for his country.

Alvin loved nature, being outdoors and loved to ride his mountain bike. He was friendly and quick witted – he could make anyone laugh. His sense of humor will be greatly missed. Alvin grew up in a family of barbers and enjoyed using his expertise as a way of spending time getting to know others.

Alvin is survived by his wife, Janice Benat, of Aransas Pass; daughters Marcy Steele, of Sunnyvale and Lisa McMillen, of Plano; five grandchildren - Erica Steele, Jensen McMillen, Madisen McMillen, Graysen McMillen and Emersen McMillen; brother, David Benat and his wife, Sandy, of Mesquite; his sister, Theresa Huggins, of Dallas; many nieces and nephews; and friend, Shirley Benat.

Alvin was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Glenn Benat.

Alvin was a blessing to all who knew him and we celebrate his life.

There will be a Celebration of Alvin’s life on Thursday, September 16th at 10:00 am at the New Hope Funeral Home at 500 US-80, Sunnyvale TX 75182.

A second service will be held at DFW National Cemetery in Dallas, Texas, at 2:00 PM, to include Military Honors. 2000 Mountain Creek Pkwy, Dallas TX 75211
