Anna Lee Jones was born on August 12, 1928, to Daniel and Myrtle (Long) Jones. She was the oldest of 3 sisters and spent her childhood in Celina, TX. She attended the local Baptist church with her family as a young girl.
Ann met her husband, Wayne (Perk), in her junior year of high school and they married in May 1947 in McKinney, Texas. After they married, they moved to Mesquite to begin their 75 years together. She was a devoted wife and mother to their 3 sons, Michael, Bobby, and Ricky.
Ann worked at Southwestern Bell then at Wilkinson Middle School before deciding to become a full-time homemaker. She enjoyed taking her sons to baseball and football practices and games and cheering for them whenever she could. She loved maintaining a garden and cooking for her family. Her specialty was homemade Pecan pie made from pecans that had fallen from the tree in her yard.
Ann and Perk were avid travelers both domestically and internationally. They especially loved traveling with the Roadrunner RV Club. She loved spending time with her family and friends. She specifically loved playing board games, cards, and dominoes. One of her favorite activities was hosting friends and family at her home to watch the annual Mesquite Balloon Festival. Through the years, she loved being Granny to her many grandchildren and watching them grow.
Ann was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Mesquite for many years then attended the Dallas County Cowboy Church until she moved to her assisted-living home. She was an active member of the Tuesday-morning bible study at Rock Ridge Assisted Living where she loved singing the song "I'll Fly Away." She also enjoyed playing bingo, making crafts, eating meals with her friends, and spending time with visitors.
Although she was welcomed in her new community, she has longed to reunite with her husband and family that passed before.
Ann passed peacefully in her sleep on the evening of April 23, 2026, at the age of 97.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Perk; her parents, Dan and Myrtle; her siblings Evelyn and Dannie Mae; her sons Mike and Bobby; and great-granddaughter Jaylin.
She is survived by her son Rick and wife Karen Perkins, daughter-in-law, Pamela Perkins. Her grandchildren Michael & Melissa Perkins, Brandon Perkins, Alysha & Chris Anderton, Paige & Geoff Ahmann, Hannah & John Dodge, Kyle & Kaidyn Perkins, and Peyton Perkins. Her great-grandchildren are Madison, Mason, Braydon, Jayde, Wilder, Savannah, Kinsley, Finley, & Paislee. And great-great grandchildren Rainey and River. And many nieces, nephews, and beloved friends.
The family would like to thank Rock Ridge Assisted Living, Lakepointe Church Senior Ministry, and Baylor Scott & White Lakepointe Hospital.
