Anooj John Cheruthottil was called home to be with the Lord on November 1, 2026, in Princeton, Texas, at the age of 47. Born on September 3, 1979, in Morristown, New Jersey, to the late V. Rev. David Cheruthottil and Annie Cheruthottil, Anooj's life was a testament to faith, quiet strength, Christian devotion, and love for others. Affectionately known as "Anoogie," "Big Achacha," and "Biggie", he touched countless lives through his kindness, steadfast character, and unwavering devotion to God, family, and community.

Anooj was raised in Parsippany and Mine Hill, New Jersey, in a home deeply rooted in faith, service, and family values. From a young age, he embodied a gentle spirit and calm strength. His mother often described him as the perfect baby and child, respectful, kind-hearted, and content. During his early years, he enjoyed soccer, football, and baseball, developing the discipline and teamwork that would remain hallmarks of his character throughout life.

At the age of seven, Anooj began serving at the altar of the church founded by his father at St. George Church in New Jersey. At that time, the parish consisted of only a handful of families, yet his dedication helped lay the foundation for what would become a well-established and beloved church community. His service to the Church was not simply a childhood responsibility but a lifelong calling.

Because of his father's ministry and Anooj's deep love for the Church, many believed he might one day follow in his father's footsteps and become a priest. Yet when asked about the possibility, he humbly replied, "I didn't get the calling." While God led his path in a different direction, Anooj remained a faithful servant of the Church throughout his life. He continued serving at the altar into adulthood, trained generations of altar boys, and was widely respected for his knowledge of church traditions and liturgical practices. Through his quiet leadership and example, he left a lasting impression on every church community he served.

His involvement extended far beyond altar service. As an active youth member of St. George Church, he enthusiastically participated in church programs, retreats, and community events throughout his life. After relocating to Texas, he continued investing in the next generation by helping lead and mentor youth within the Mesquite church community, encouraging young people to remain connected to their faith and church family.

Anooj's educational journey began at Canfield Avenue School in Mine Hill, New Jersey, and continued through Dover Middle School and Dover High School. A lifelong learner with a genuine appreciation for language and communication, he went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts in English from William Paterson University. The discipline, thoughtfulness, and strong work ethic he cultivated throughout his education remained evident in both his professional and personal life.

In term of his career achievements, Anooj built his reputation marked by integrity, diligence, and professionalism. Early in his career, he held leadership and customer-facing positions within the retail and banking industries. He later transitioned into procurement, where he excelled as a Sourcing Specialist working in government service. Regardless of the role he held, colleagues consistently valued his reliability, strong work ethic, and positive attitude.

Beyond his professional and spiritual life, Anooj found joy in many interests and hobbies. He loved sports and was a New York fan through and through, remaining a lifelong supporter of the NY Giants, while also passionately supporting the Knicks, and Yankees. He was also an avid WWE enthusiast and possessed an impressive knowledge of movies and television. Friends and family often marveled at his ability to recall actors, film titles, and entertainment trivia with remarkable accuracy. Just as he appreciated the details of sports and entertainment, he also had a keen eye for style and quality.

One of the most defining acts of Anooj's life came when his father's health began to decline. Recognizing the growing needs of his parents, he made the selfless decision to leave behind the life he had built in New Jersey and relocate to Texas alongside his sister and her family. What began as a family transition became a profound ministry of love and sacrifice. In Texas, Anooj devoted himself to caring for his father, becoming one of his primary caregivers and even learning to perform in-home dialysis to ensure he received the best possible care. He never viewed this responsibility as a burden, but rather as an opportunity to honor the parents who had faithfully cared for him throughout his life. This sacrifice reflected the very heart of who Anooj was: a son whose love was measured not by words, but by steadfast service and selfless devotion.

Anooj was a man of few words, yet his life spoke volumes. Deeply loyal to his family and friends, he was dependable, responsible, and always willing to help others. Although he knew many people, especially within the Indian Malayalee community, he cherished a close circle of friends and remained fiercely devoted to those he loved. Quiet and private by nature, he had a contagious laugh and a playful sense of humor that could bring light to even the most difficult moments. Above all, Anooj was a humble, honest, and God-fearing man whose kindness was evident not only in what he said, but in how he lived. Free of jealousy, bitterness, or pretense, he treated everyone with compassion, respect, and grace. His life reflected quiet faith, selfless sacrifice, and unconditional love. His legacy is not merely what he accomplished, but the goodness he shared with everyone fortunate enough to know him.

Anooj is survived by his loving mother, Annie; his sister, Anju; his brother, Aneesh; his brother-in-law, Juan; and his beloved nephew and niece, Zach and Maia, along with countless family members, friends, church members, and community members whose lives were touched by his kindness and faith.

Though his earthly journey has ended, his legacy of faith, humility, compassion, and love will continue to inspire all who knew him. We take comfort in knowing that he has heard the words of our Lord:

"Well done, good and faithful servant."
(Matthew 25:23)

Memory Eternal.

May his soul rest in peace and may the perpetual light shine upon him.
