Arthur Raymond Nance

Arthur Raymond Nance, 73, passed away on August 24, 2026, in Corsicana, TX.

Raymond Nance was born on October 14, 1952, in Parsons, KS, to Arthur W. Nance and Wilma June DeMoss Nance. Raymond graduated from North Kansas City High School in 1971 and went on to college at the University of Missouri at Rolla. He left college and joined the United States Navy in October 1972, where he served honorably, achieving the rank of Builder Third Class (BU3) before his discharge in July 1978. Following his military service, Raymond completed his degree and graduated from the University of Missouri at Rolla in 1981 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering. In August 1980, he started his career with the Texas Department of Transportation, where he dedicated his professional career to surveying, designing, and building roadways, earning the respect of colleagues and contributing to the infrastructure of the state. He went on to work for 38 years before retiring as Assistant Area Engineer of Navarro County in August 2018. After retirement, Raymond enjoyed spending time with family, especially watching his granddaughter play soccer.

Raymond married Nancy Burzinski on October 12, 1974, in Ventura County, California. They remained married for 42 years of laughs and love, sickness and health, battling Nancy's multiple sclerosis for decades until her death in May 2017. The couple had 2 children, Kurtis Ray and Rebecca (Becky) Dawn. Kurtis and his wife Melisa also provided Raymond and Nancy with another light in their lives, their only grandchild, Madison Rylie.

Raymond is survived by son Kurtis and wife Melisa of Forney, daughter Becky and husband Jason of Mesquite, TX, and granddaughter Madison. He is also survived by sister Jean Malmberg and husband Hal of Columbia, MO; sister Kathy Clark and husband Steve of Kansas City, MO; brother Don Nance and wife Cathy of Kansas City, MO; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Raymond is preceded in death by his wife, Nancy, and parents, Arthur and June.

A Celebration of Life has been scheduled for Saturday, September 5 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Culpeppers Cattle Co located at 309 I-30 Frontage Rd, Rockwall, TX 75087. Appetizers will be provided.

His legacy will live on in the hearts of his family and friends, who will remember him as a man of integrity and compassion. Raymond's remains were cremated in accordance with his wishes. Raymond and Nancy will be buried together at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery in Dallas, TX.
