Arthur Earl Parker, born on July 31, 1951, in Mannington, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on October 10, 2026, in Forney, Texas, at the age of 75. Earl began his career in the transportation industry at age 19 with Evansville & Ohio Valley Bus Lines and the Metropolitan Evansville Transit Service. For the last 35 years of his career before his retirement at age 62, he proudly drove for Continental Trailways and Greyhound Bus Lines. During the last decade of his career, he shared his experience and knowledge as a driving instructor for Greyhound. His commitment to service and his easygoing spirit left a lasting impression on all who rode with him.
Earl was known for his love of family, often seen cheering at his children's and grandchildren's sports events and other school functions, taking immense pride in their achievements. He loved watching sports and baseball-themed movies, frequently quoting his favorites again and again. An avid sports fan, he passionately supported the University of Kentucky Wildcats, the Dallas Cowboys, and the Texas Rangers, celebrating the 2023 Rangers World Series win with multiple new hats for his collection.
In addition to his love of sports, Earl found joy in the simple pleasures of life, such as mowing his lawn and walking his many beloved dogs over the years -- Fiffy, Cinnamon, Nyla -- and grand-dog Chewie. He was also a sucker for Socks the cat, who trained Earl to comb him on demand. Earl was a cancer survivor, beating lymphoma and melanoma in 2023. Earl's greatest joys were the births of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchild, Lennox.
Earl leaves behind his loving spouse, Joyce Parker; daughter Sarah Parker Allen; sons Joe Parker and Earl Parker; daughter-in-law Miranda Parker; grandchildren Joshua, Braeden, Logan, Ethan, and Emily Parker; great-grandson Lennox Parker; son-in-law Jeremy Stasyszen; daughter-in-law Rachel Sudela; step-grandchildren Cayden and Cayse Colon. He is also survived by his youngest sister Debbie Stewart, his sister-in-law Elaine Parker, and numerous relatives in Kentucky and Indiana. His warmth, humor, and spirit will be profoundly missed by family and friends alike.
A memorial service will be held on October 23, 2026, at New Hope Funeral Home Chapel, with visitation beginning at 2:00 PM, followed by the service at 3:00 PM. A livestream of the service will be available via social media for those who wish to join from afar.
Arthur was preceded in death by: John Parker (father), Effie Parker (mother), brothers Doug, Pete, William, Wesley, and Jesse Parker; and sisters Polly Isbell and Pat Huggins.
