Arthur Edward "Butch" Plumb, Jr., age 70, passed away at his home in Mesquite, Texas, on December 21, 2022. Art was born in Dallas on August 10, 1952, to Arthur Edward "Doc" and Rita (Chasteen) Plumb.
He was a loving and caring man who made friends easily. He married Leslie Ann Haralson in 1979 and they celebrated 43 years together. Art, or Butch, worked as a millwright in the textile industry. He was both self-employed and employed by Hollander Home Fashions for over 30 years. After he retired from Hollander, he volunteered at the Texas Fire Museum where he helped restore old fire engines. One project he was proud of was the restoration of a Dallas Police car that was of the same vintage as the car Officer J. D. Tippett was driving when he was shot by Lee Harvey Oswald.
His favorite hobby was fishing and he would show his fishing pictures to everyone he could. He also enjoyed volunteering at the KidFish event in Mesquite. Art is survived by his widow, Leslie, his two children, Travis Plumb and Melody Plumb, his grandchildren Lilah and Scarlett Plumb, sisters Susie (Roland) Tucker, Debe (Scott) Trout, Marti (Keith) Mumaw, Marsha (Jim) Lyon, brother Richard (Nita) Plumb and many nieces and nephews, as well as countless friends.
Art will be cremated, with burial to follow at a later date. At his request, there will not be a public memorial service.
