Bonnie Jean Callan, 88, passed peacefully at home on April 24, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on December 17, 1937, in Miller Grove, Texas, Bonnie was the cherished daughter of Clyde and Lera Ferguson. She was the youngest of six children and shared a special bond with her siblings throughout her life. She often laughed when remembering how Johnnie and Ruby loved to play pranks on her.

Bonnie graduated from Miller Grove High School in 1957, where she met the love of her life, George Callan. They were married on September 6, 1957, beginning a beautiful marriage that spanned 68 devoted years. Together they built a life rooted in love, loyalty, and companionship, truly inseparable through every season of life.

Bonnie and George later made their home in Mesquite, Texas, where they welcomed their daughter, Christi, in 1966. Bonnie was a dedicated wife, loving mother, treasured grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and dear friend to many. She had the brightest smile, the sweetest soul, and a warmth that made everyone feel welcome.

A faithful member of White Rock United Methodist Church, Bonnie loved serving others and often shared her delicious baked goods with her Sunday school class. She was known as a wonderful cook and baker, and her meals brought family and friends together around the table.

Bonnie devoted herself to caring for her family as a stay-at-home mother before beginning her career with the City of Mesquite in 1980. She later worked full time in the City Attorney's Office beginning in 1983 and faithfully served until her retirement in 2000.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clyde and Lera Ferguson; brother and sister-in-law Johnnie and Mary Lynn Ferguson; sister and brother-in-law Mary Lou and H.C. Akins; brother and sister-in-law Jack and Lanita Ferguson; and brother-in-law Melvin Long.

She is lovingly survived by her husband, George Callan of Mesquite; daughter, Christi and husband Brent of Sachse, Texas; grandchildren, Brea Meadows and husband Craig of Royse City, Texas, and Brayden Adams and wife Taryn of Carthage, Texas; and great-grandchildren Jaxton, Carlee, Luke, Brant, and Bryn.

Bonnie's sweet smile, welcoming voice, and gentle spirit will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved her. Her legacy of kindness, faith, and love will live on in the hearts of her family for generations to come.
