Listen to Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Brandee Renee Vasquez on July 15, 2025, at the age of 50. She was born on July 15, 1975, to parents Mark and Sandy Rickman, and was a beloved daughter, sister, mother, aunt, cousin, and friend.

Brandee's life was marked by an unyielding love for her family, her passion for giving back to her community, and her radiant spirit. She was a dedicated mother to her daughter, Rikki-Alisa, whom she lovingly called "my little bear." More than just mother and daughter, they were best friends who shared their own special language... one that no one else could understand. They were the light of each other's lives with a bond that transcended words and will last beyond time.

She also leaves behind her younger brother, Joshua Rickman, his wife Stacey, and their children, Jaycee and Gage. In addition, Brandee was adored by her two sisters, Tammy Francis and Tammy Smitherman; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins, all of whom she cherished deeply. She was also lovingly supported by her three sisters-in-law, Rosie Coile, Elaine Eisenberger, and Rebecca Vasquez; and was adored by her in-laws, Rose and Oscar Garcia.

Brandee's love for life extended to her many passions. She had a lifelong love for music, with a voice that would light up any room. Her love for singing was only matched by her quirky, joyful personality that endeared her to everyone she met. She was a dedicated participant in the Mrs. Texas pageant, where she made lifelong friendships and formed lasting bonds with those who admired her grace and heart.

Her passion for service was clear in her many volunteer efforts. She devoted countless hours to organizations like Keep Mesquite Beautiful, Historic Mesquite, and the Annual Unhoused People Count for Dallas, where she could always be found lending a hand with a smile. Brandee was known as a healer; not only because of her nurturing care, but also for her ability to brighten a room with her laughter and positive energy. No one was ever left feeling alone or unheard when Brandee was around. And when she wasn't helping people, she was helping animals, always giving them the love and care they deserved.

Brandee's journey was shared with her former husband, Ricky Vasquez, with whom she spent 30 years of her life. Although their paths diverged, they never stopped caring for each other, even if they had a hard time saying it.

Brandee's sudden passing leaves an unfillable void but the love and memories she gave us will carry on forever. Her kindness, strength, and resilience were felt by everyone who knew her, and her spirit will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.

A visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 PM on Tuesday, July 22, 2025 at New Hope Funeral Home in Sunnyvale, TX with a funeral service on Wednesday, July 23, 2025 beginning at 10:00 AM.
