Carl David Milligan, a kindhearted giant of a man with an amazing sense of humor, passed away on October 20, 2025, after a life rich in love, service, and devotion to his family. Born on September 21, 1945, in Heavener, Oklahoma, David exemplified what it meant to be a dedicated husband, father, and friend.
For nearly six decades, David shared a profound and loving partnership with his wife, Mary Elizabeth Milligan. They were married on March 12, 1966, a beautiful union that lasted for 59 years and served as an inspiration to all who knew them.
As a devoted father, David took immense pride in his three sons, who will carry on his legacy: Brad Milligan and wife Brandi, Brandon Milligan and wife Andrea, and Byron Milligan and wife Melanie. He was preceded in death by his cherished daughter, Melissa Kaye Milligan.
David was the proud "Papa" to ten loving grandchildren: Kendall Milligan, Kason Milligan, Dani Milligan, Ryan Rios, Bekah Chisenhall, Kirsten Edwards, Abby Pollard, Preston Pollard, Harper Milligan, and Brady Milligan.
A Life of Service and Work
David honorably served his country in the U.S. Air Force as a Vietnam Veteran, dedicating four years to the military. Following his service, he put his industrious nature to work as a Master Plumber, founding his own company, Milligan's Plumbing. More than just a successful businessman, Carl was a patient mentor who taught his sons the trade, instilling in them his work ethic and expertise.
Passions and Legacy
David was a man who truly loved doing things for others, a testament to his kind heart. He was an avid fan of the Oklahoma Sooners, finding great joy in watching them play. His free time was often spent pursuing his passions for hunting and fishing. He also devoted countless hours to coaching his boys in sports, sharing his knowledge, encouragement, and ever-present humor.
David is survived by his beloved wife, Mary; sons, Brad, Brandon, and Byron; his grandchildren; as well as his siblings, Elmer, Donald, Rose, and Joyce. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Ruby, Dora, Vera, Winnie, Earl, Buddy, and Ray.
Carl David Milligan leaves behind a powerful legacy of kindness, generosity, hard work, and laughter. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all the lives he touched.
Services for Carl David Milligan will be held at Lakepointe Church in Sunnyvale, TX with visitation starting at 1:00 PM and funeral service to follow at 2:00 PM. He will be laid to rest at the Dallas-Ft. Worth National Cemetery at a later time in a private family committal.
