Charles (Rusty) Edward Evans passed away peacefully at home on May 8, 2025 in Forney, Texas after a courageous battle with cancer. Rusty was born on December 25, 1949 in Dallas, Texas. Rusty was a beloved husband, father, papa, brother and friend, known for his kindness, sense of humor, dedication to his family, and unwavering faith.
He was predeceased by his parents Richard Evans and Margie Evans Berryman. He is survived by his loving wife, Janet, of 47 years, daughters Ashley Blakely (Barrett) and Kristin Kezar (Peter), as well as grandchildren, Lyla and Brooks Blakely and Sarah, Sadie and Samuel Kezar. Rusty honorably served with the Dallas Fire Department for 38 years. He retired in 2010 as a captain at Station 19, where he served for 21 years. The Dallas Fire Department was his second family and he missed it greatly in retired life. Rusty also started, owned and operated his own AC/HTG business for about 30 years.
He enjoyed sports, history, travel, and spending time with his family. He loved serving in the church where he participated in the Bill Glass prison ministry and safety team.
