Listen to Obituary

Christopher James Allen of Mesquite, TX passed away on Sunday, November 23, 2025 after a courageous battle with cancer. The strength and resilience he showed during his illness and treatment were unmatched, but ultimately his body was unable to keep up. He passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones.

Christopher was born on January 22, 1974 in McAlester, OK to Russie Vanderburg. He worked his way into retail management at a young age and remained in that same field up until his illness. He met his wife, Amanda Allen, in 2001. They began dating in 2003 and married on Valentine's Day 2004. They went on to have 4 beautiful daughters together.

Outside of working hard to always provide for his family, he enjoyed any outdoor activities and spending time with his girls. He loved hiking, camping, and sports - particularly football and the Dallas Cowboys. He also really loved superheros with Superman being his all time favorite. But the one thing that will be remembered most was his humor. He looked for - and usually found - the humor in EVERYTHING. You could often find him making an inappropriate joke or a joke at an inappropriate time. He never took anything too seriously.

Chris is survived by his wife Amanda and their four daughters, Daisy, Abigail, Brooklyn, and Cambree; mother Russie Vanderburg; stepfather Scott Vanderburg; sister Shandra Colón; mother and father-in-law Douglas and Cherry Kelley; nephew Gabriel Allen and wife Reyna; niece Evelyn Harder; nephews Adrian Washington, Spencer Harder, and Ian Harder; great nieces & nephew, Presley, Wednesday, and Cashton Allen; Aunt "Nay" Renee Shretlen and husband John; cousins Gerry Rushing, Chance Rushing, and Stephanie Walworth; brother-in-law Douglas Kelley; and sister-in-law Jennifer Harder and husband Jordan. Chris was proceeded in death by his grandmother, Margaret.

Chris was more than an Uncle to his Nephew Gabe. He was a father figure, role model, best friend, and hero. They shared their love of scary films, music, and superhero movies.

Chris and Shandra shared their deep faith and love for God. They were each other's prayer warrior throughout life.

Chris' wife and daughters were his entire world. The family that he built was his biggest dream and proudest accomplishment. Each of his daughters got traits of Christopher's that will continue to carry on his legacy; he will live on through their personalities.

We will miss his humor, hugs, and his kind gentle spirit. We will forever hold him in our hearts and memories.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, November 30th at 2:00 pm at Mesquite Bible Church located at 2124 Motley Dr, Mesquite, TX 75150.
