Connie Jo Cox

December 3, 1949 — September 9, 2022

Connie Jo Hart Cox, 72, passed peacefully surrounded by family on September 9, 2022. She was born on December 3, 1949, in Pratt, Kansas, joining her older brother Dennis.  Her parents were Helen Smith Hart and Lee Hart. Connie’s family eventually settled in Texas, where she graduated from Lewisville High School in 1968.  Connie’s son John was born in 1978 in the North Texas area. In 1998 Connie’s granddaughter Briana Pinto-Richardson was born.

After many occupations, Connie spent twelve years with Dr. Charlie Mills as a medical assistant, then became a diabetes educator with Blue Cross Blue Shield.  Later, Connie was an advocate for the rights of assisted living residents in the communities she resided.

Connie was a calm and gentle person with a sassy sense of humor. She believed in the power of faith, in the importance of laughter through adversity, and in the calling of advocacy.

Connie is survived by her son John Richardson; her granddaughter Briana Richardson; her brother Dennis Hart; her niece Amianne Bailey; her great nieces Landry and Peyton; her niece Katy Fleener; her great nephews Ty and Chase, and brother Gene Belew (Linda).

Donations may be made in Connie’s name to: THE PARK Christian Community Church, 2701 N. Town East Blvd, Mesquite, TX 75150
