Curtis was the youngest child and constant companion to his older brother Russell, and his wife Brenda Schultz, and older sister Debra. He developed a love of music early in his life and began playing the guitar. He continued to sing and bring joy to others through his music throughout the remainder of his life. He met the love of his life, Debbie Hobbs, in 1982. They were wed a short six months later. They remained married until his death and shared 37 & 3/4 years of joy. Together they raised three children and numerous pets. Curtis spent his life serving people and mirroring the way Jesus would care for others. The only part of life more important to Curtis than his wife and children was ensuring that everyone knew Jesus loved them and was waiting for them with open arms. He worked hard to provide for his family and did whatever was necessary to ensure his family never did without. Curtis worked numerous jobs across a variety of cities; including owning a small engine repair shop "CRS Service and Sales" in Sunnyvale, Texas, for several years and then he went to work at District 6 in Balch Springs, and eventually he retired from North Texas Municipal Water District in Mesquite after working there for more than 17 years. He was one of the few Class A operators in the state of Texas. In his spare time, Curtis loved spending time with his family and he was an avid bass fisherman. It would be impossible to summarize Curtis in a few sentences; rather his legacy will continue in the numerous people he served in his role as a pastor and a Christian who exemplified a servant's heart. He is survived by his wife Debbie, son Jason and his children with Joanna Shepherd, Wyatt, Jaylee, William, and Weston; son Jeremy; and daughter Brandi and son-in-law Kris Bosak; sister-in-law Brenda Shepherd; sister-in-law Kathy Stuart; brother-in-law Danny Hobbs; and numerous nieces and nephews that he loved as his own children and innumerable family members and friends. He is preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents, parents Danny and Arlene Shepherd, brother Russell Shepherd and sister Debra Kendall. Services for Curtis will be at New Hope Funeral Home in Sunnyvale, Texas. Visitation will be Friday, March 5th, from 6-8 p.m. and funeral services on Saturday, March 6th, at 2–4 p.m. immediately followed by the graveside service at Mesquite Cemetery.
