Daniel Eugene Vinson Sr. was born on August 4, 1943, in Poplar Bluff, Missouri, to Everett and Beatrice Vinson. Dan passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his family, on October 4, 2026, at the age of 83.
Dan lived a life full of passion and adventure, ultimately making Terrell, Texas, his home. He was a devoted husband to his loving wife of 64 years, Mary Vinson and a cherished father to Kimberly, Daniel, and Bradley. His legacy continues through his loving sister, Patty McWilliams; his beloved grandchildren: Cheramy, Chyra, Bradley, Aubrey, and Anderson; his adored 6 great grandchildren: Charlize (Charli), Callie, Bexley, Jake, Bristol, and Atlas; plus countless nieces and nephews.
Dan was happiest in the great outdoors, whether fishing at the lake or hunting in the woods. A man of many talents, he enjoyed activities that put his skills to the test, from winning tractor pull trophies to competing in fishing tournaments. His home reflected the life he loved, adorned with mounted deer and turkeys and reminders of countless days spent fishing and hunting.
Though Dan was a man of few words, when he began talking about the good old days, the stories could keep coming. He loved sharing memories of past adventures, and those stories brought smiles and laughter to the family and friends who heard them. They are memories that will now be treasured and passed down for generations.
Dan was preceded in death by his son, Bradley Vinson; his mother, Beatrice McIver Vinson; his father, Everett Vinson; and his brothers, James Vinson and Everett Lee Vinson.
Family and friends will gather to celebrate Dan's life on October 9, 2026. Visitation will be held at 1:00 PM at New Hope Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 2:00 PM, with burial to follow at Rose Hill Cemetery at 4:00 PM.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Alinea Family Hospice Care for the kindness, compassion, and support they provided to Dan and his family during his final months.
Dan leaves behind a lifetime of stories, adventures, and memories. His love for his family, the outdoors, and the simple pleasures of life will be remembered by all who knew him. Though he will be deeply missed, his stories will continue to be told, his memories cherished, and his legacy carried on by those he loved.
