David Newton Conner Sr.

December 6, 1947 — July 7, 2022

David Newton Conner, Sr., age 74, passed away in the comfort of his own home in Kaufman on Thursday, July 7, 2022. Born on December 6th, 1947 at St. Paul Hospital in Dallas, TX to parents George David Conner and Emma Jane Conner. David Sr. was raised in Garland, TX alongside his younger brother, James Michael Conner of Garland. He attended Garland High School where he graduated in 1966.

David Sr. held many positions throughout his life - both professionally and otherwise. He was a skilled butcher, novice restaurant owner, knowledgeable general store proprietor, world-traveling I.T. Specialist and amateur micro farmer.

By 1969, David Sr. was blessed enough to begin navigating fatherhood and family. His family grew first with the birth of his son, David Newton Conner, Jr. (53), followed by daughter Kristina Lynn Conner (50) and son William Patrick Conner (45).

By the 1990s, David Sr. found himself adopting the affectionately chosen title of "Paw Paw" as he welcomed the first of his grandchildren to the world. As the years went on, his status of "Paw Paw" would extend to 9 grandchildren in total. Alexander Rogers (31), son of Kristina Lynn Conner -- Caitlin Conner (29), Hailey Conner (26), Jake Conner (23), April Dominguez (22), Alexander Holmes (16), children of David Newton Conner, Jr. -- Austin Fulbright (27), Breana Palmer (16), and Alyssa Taylor (9) -- children of William Patrick Conner.

David Sr. loved the home he created for himself in Kaufman, Texas. For years, his home was the summer spot for swimming, where guests would be able to leave with fresh fruit picked from his garden's trees. It was where he raised his favorite dog and sidekick, Beetle, a dachshund that was happiest when he was sitting on David Sr.'s shoulders. Kaufman was where David Sr. found friends in the community through his local church and senior center. And it was never too far from his family and friends. Never one to conform to social fashion standards, the difference in casual and "fancy" attire was usually determined by how faded his overalls were.

David Newton Conner, Sr. lived his life fully and created love and light through many avenues. His family, his friends, his church, his senior center, his animals - dogs, chickens, geese, goats and more - Carnival cruises, trips to timeshares with family, phone calls with loved ones. He leaves behind a legacy of love, debate, and wanderlust.

If attending services, in lieu of flowers, the family requests that you wear your favorite pair of OVERALLS in memory of David.
