David Evans

David Michael Evans, 65, passed away on October 15, 2025 at his home in Richardson, Texas. He was born on December 30, 1959 in Yuba City, California, to David and Shirley Manes Evans.

David had degrees in horticulture and floriculture and owned and operated The Diamond Rose flower shop for many years.

David attended St. Louis Community College's School of Mortuary Science and earned his Associate of Applied Science in Funeral Service in 2008. After receiving his funeral director's license, David went to work for Service Corporation International (SCI). During his tenure at SCI, he worked at various locations, including Grove Hill Funeral Home, Sparkman Crane Funeral Home, Moore Funeral Home, and Rhoton Funeral Home. After leaving SCI, David went on to work for New Hope Funeral Home and ended his funeral career with Lucas Funerals & Cremations, Grapevine.

David was a wonderful friend, a funny co-worker, a kind and compassionate Funeral Director, and he would help anybody at any time with anything.

After spending 40 years with his partner, James Sneed, they were finally able to legally marry on February 6, 2019. That union lasted until February 17, 2024 when James passed away. David struggled daily to overcome the loss of James. He said daily he just wanted to be with James in heaven, and he was ready to go. He is now reunited with James, and his broken heart has been healed. We will miss you, dear friend. We will catch up again later.

David is survived by his sister; Wendy Perkon; a niece; Ashlee Perkon; his dearest and best friend, Pam Swindling, and his Lucas Funeral Home family.

Visitation will be from 1:00-2:00 pm on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, with the funeral service beginning at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of New Hope Funeral Home. Burial will follow the service at Grove Hill Memorial Park, 3920 Samuell Blvd. Dallas, Texas 75228.
