Dolores Ann Noel

November 11, 1938 — February 21, 2022

Dolores Ann Noel, age 83, the former Dolores Ann Melancon, who passed away Monday, February 21, 2022, at Dallas Regional Medical Center in Mesquite, TX. A visitation and rosary will be held in her honor from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at New Hope Funeral Home on Friday, February 25, 2022. A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, 950 Trails Parkway, Garland, TX 75043, on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, Sunnyvale, TX.

Mrs. Noel was born in Avery Island, Iberia Parish, Louisiana in the vicinity of the famous McIlhenny Farm, makers of Tabasco Pepper sauce. Her father, Germain, was a field employee of Geophysical Services Inc. (GSI), doing business exploring for crude oil. By the time she entered high school, she had attended 25 different schools, some for only a few days before the GSI 'crew' moved on to another test site.

On a double date in 1955, she met her future husband, Floyd Pierre Noel, and two years later, on August 9, 1957, they were married in St. Genevieve Catholic Church in Lafayette, LA. At the time of her death they had been married 64-1/2 years.

Dolores was a homemaker. 'Dee' loved life, loved people, and made countless friends everywhere she went. She loved family and friend get-togethers, weekends on the lake, and small vacations in the Rocky Mountains of western Colorado. She also loved animals and old cars. She especially enjoyed browsing through garage and yard sales and flea markets. Since August of 2018, when debilitating illnesses brought her physical activities almost to a halt, she loved just taking a ride in the car looking at new homes being built, watching airplanes take off and land, and going out to eat lunch.

She is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Floyd Pierre Noel, children Kevin Blaine Noel (and fiancé, Sally Jayne Popplewell), Wendy Sue Noel, Kent Ray Noel (and wife, Keri Bard Noel), grandchildren (Cassie Lynn Noel Coburn (and husband, Patrick Jensen Coburn), Ryan Taylor Noel (and fiancé, Christina Robertson), Michael Tyler Hawkins, Taylor Michelle Hawkins, and great grandchildren Ohana Lightshines Jimenez and Walter David Jimenez III, nieces Pamela Renee Martin (and husband, Gregorio O. Figueroa), Patricia Rose Martin (and husband, Ernest Fimbres Moreno), Michelle Rae Martin (and husband, Kevin Scott Fox), Bette Ruth Martin (and husband, Craig Holder Hartman), and nephew, Michael Martin (and wife, Marie Arico). Also survived by numerous grandnieces and grandnephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, Germain Melancon, mother, Estelle Boudreaux, brothers Clifton Melancon and Harold Ray Martin, and sister Linda Gail Melancon.

Pallbearers: Kevin Blaine Noel, Kent Ray Noel, Ryan Taylor Noel, Michael Tyler Hawkins, Patrick Jensen Coburn, Taylor Michelle Hawkins, Sally Jayne Popplewell and Cassie Lynn Noel Coburn. Honorary Pallbearers: Laszlo Laky, Craig Guidry and Fr. Paul Weinberger.
