Don Keith Hancock was born on January 24, 1946, and passed away surrounded by the love and memories of family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Aubrey and Marguerite Hancock, and his stepfather, Alvin Egger.

Don is survived by his daughter, Jesse Van Genderen (Terri Alexander); his granddaughter, Dally Van Genderen; his brothers, William "Bill" Hancock and Dawson Hancock (Cynthia); and his stepsister, Peggy Rich (Mike). He also leaves behind three nieces, two nephews, and many cherished family members and friends who will remember him with love.

A graduate of Spring Branch High School and Texas Tech University, Don dedicated more than 30 years of his life to serving children and families through Child Protective Services. His career reflected a deep commitment to helping others and making a difference in the lives of those who needed it.

Don's adventurous spirit took him to Colombia, South America, where he served in the Peace Corps near Bogotá. He was also an Eagle Scout, an accomplishment that reflected his appreciation for the outdoors, his spirit of service, and the values that remained a part of his life.

Outside of his work and accomplishments, Don found happiness in life's simple pleasures. He loved horses, fishing, and spending time outdoors, as well as being surrounded by the people and animals who brought joy to his life. He will be remembered for his independent spirit, his dedication to serving others, and the special place he held in the hearts of those who knew him.

Don's legacy lives on through his daughter and granddaughter, his siblings and extended family, and the many lives he touched along the way. His memory will be treasured by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
