Edd Vernon Henderson

February 14, 1930 — December 24, 2020

Edd Vernon Henderson was born on February 14, 1930 in Vernon, Texas and moved to his eternal heavenly home on December 24, 2020.  He grew up on a farm in Fisher County Texas along with his parents, L.P. and Lorene Henderson, and three bothers and one sister.  After graduating from high school, he enlisted in the Army and was stationed in Germany during the Korean war.  After being discharged from the Army he returned to Texas and met the love of his life, Joyce Inez Culpepper, and they were married in August 1953.  They moved to Canyon, Texas and he attended and graduated from West Texas State University with a degree in accounting.  After many years working as a private accountant, he passed the CPA exam and began working as a Certified Public Accountant in Floydada, Texas.  He retired from his active public accounting practice in 2007 and moved to Mesquite, Texas where he resided until his passing.   He was a devoted family man who loved his family and his Lord deeply and served as an example of a man who lived his life with honor and integrity.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 62 years Joyce Henderson, his brother Lon Henderson and his sister Cleo Davis.  He is survived by his two brothers, John Henderson and Harold Henderson, his two sons, Edd Henderson, Jr. and wife Sharon Henderson, and Terry Henderson and wife Susan Henderson, as well as four grandchildren, Jason Henderson and wife Taylor Henderson, Tiffany Benolken and husband Aaron Benolken, Ben Henderson and wife Chelsea Henderson, and Sam Henderson and wife Mallory Henderson, along with six great grandchildren, Wyatt Benolken, Kate Benolken, Ella Benolken, Judah Henderson, Shepherd Henderson, and Elizabeth Henderson.

A celebration of his life will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, January 2, 2021 in the Fellowship Hall of Inspiration Church at Inspiration Church, 1233 N. Belt Line Road in Mesquite, Texas.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to Cal Farley’s Boys Ranch.
