Edna Collier

Edna Collier, a beloved member of the community, passed away in Mesquite, TX. on February 20th, 2024. She was born in Point, TX. on December 26th, 1933. Edna was known for her warm personality and strong ties to her community; she attended Sunnyvale Baptist Church and was part of the Daughters of the American Revolution.


In her earlier years, Edna excelled academically, graduating from Point High School and Rutherford Business College. She had a passion for learning and always sought to better herself.


During her youth, Edna actively participated in various hobbies and interests such as girls' basketball in high school, being part of the Future Homemakers of America, and even running as a Fair Queen candidate. These experiences shaped her into the determined and well-rounded individual that she was known to be.


Edna's family meant the world to her. She is survived by her loving daughter Felicia Collier-Melton, grandchildren Andrew Michael Melton (Rachel) and Sarah Alane Contreras (Dan), as well as great-grandchildren Leiaha, Levi, Addy, and Thomas. In addition to her immediate family, Edna leaves behind her brother Thomas Wesley Nelson.


In life, Edna was preceded in death by her beloved husband Farris "Glen" Collier and her parents. She also joins her sisters Daisy Keeton and Letha Mae in eternal rest.


Edna Collier will be remembered fondly by all who knew her for her kindness, grace, and unwavering love for her family. Her presence will be dearly missed but her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to have known her. May she rest in peace.
