Elizabeth Dean Cooksey

May 21, 1921 — August 16, 2022

Elizabeth Ann Cooksey was born on May 21, 1921 in Dallas, Texas and after living a uniquely long and full life, she entered the presence of her Heavenly Father while surrounded by her loved ones on August 16, 2022 in Mesquite, Texas.

Elizabeth loved to travel with her family, throughout her lifetime seeing many beautiful wonders and always enjoying the experience of being together. She enjoyed Big Band Music, and spent many afternoons happily watching classic movies. She was a lifelong animal lover, and helped spay and neuter many strays from her area. Elizabeth loved nothing more than a family meal around the Holidays, with everyone talking and the Cowboys playing in the background. She had a true love for the Christmas Season, with many decorations, delicious meals, and all the traditions that came with it.

Throughout her lifetime she remained steadfast and unwavering to her faith in Jesus. Always imparting Godly wisdom to multiple generations of her family and spreading the Word to friends and strangers alike. She also firmly believed in the power of prayer, spending many hours on her knees making petitions to her Heavenly Father on behalf of her family and friends. Elizabeth was compassionate, intuitive, and her kindness and caring knew no bounds. At 101 she was still doing her daily phone checks, making sure her family made it home safe, always dialing the numbers from memory. Elizabeth was blessed with a quick wit and agile mind.

Throughout Elizabeth's life she performed numerous jobs in many business sectors, always making sure her family was provided for. Later in life she was hired at Crum & Foster Insurance were she excelled and retired at the age of 68.

Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years Newton Preston Cooksey; Parents Edgar and Elzina Dean; Son, Jerry Cooksey; Granddaughter, Melissa Cooksey, Grandson, Tommy Cooksey and Granddaughter, Charlotte Taylor.

Left to cherish her memory: Daughter, Jean Taylor, Son, N.P. Cooksey Jr., Son and Daughter-in-Law, James and Julie Cooksey and Daughter, Deborah Axton; 9 Grandchildren, 16 Great Grandchildren, and 13 Great-Great Grandchildren; and multitude of nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
