Ernest (Ernie) Lee Culpepper was a devoted husband, father and grandpa. He passed from death to life on April 7, 2026 surrounded by family singing hymns, reading scripture and praying with him at his bedside.

Ernest was born on February 1, 1937 to Jesse and Flossie Culpepper in Choudrant, Louisiana, and was the youngest of 3 brothers and 2 sisters.

Ernie was saved at a young age in a Baptist church near Ruston, Louisiana. He served as a deacon for several years in Baptist churches where they attended.

Ernest served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1954-1958 and the Naval reserve from 1958-1962 with an honorable discharge. He served as a Machinist Mate during his time in the Navy aboard the USS Lindenwald and the battleship USS Wisconsin. After his discharge, he attended vocational school in Minden, Louisiana. Soon after he began a lifelong career in HVAC work. He retired after a long career from the Trane Heating and Air Conditioning Company.

Ernest is survived by his wife, Dovye Culpepper of Mesquite, TX; daughter, Carol Taylor and husband Steve of Mesquite, TX, daughter, Cindy Quigley and husband Alan of Edmond, OK; 5 grandchildren: Andrew Taylor, David Taylor and his wife Ashley of Mesquite, TX, Sadie Youngs and her husband Sam of Piedmont, OK, Bailey Quigley of Edmond, OK, and Lane Quigley of Yukon, OK; 4 great-grandchildren: Annie, Lucy and Daisy Youngs and Luke Taylor. He was preceded in death by his parents Jesse and Flossie Culpepper; his brothers, Lavelle, Troy and Roy; and his sisters Rena Strain and Oena Napper.
