Ethel Straubing

Ethel Goodson Straubing, of Kennard, Texas passed away at the age of 94 on December 29, 2020, at Christian Care Center in Mesquite, Texas from complications of the COVID-19 virus. We’re thankful mom passed peacefully in her sleep. Ethel was born in Kennard, Texas to Hill Franklin Goodson and Dollie Ethel Smitherman Goodson on September 21, 1926. She retired in 1988 from the credit department at Sears Roebuck in Dallas and returned to the family land in Kennard, Texas. Ethel is survived by her daughters, Rhonda Lyn Evans and husband Paul of Rowlett, Texas and Donna Lee Griffin and husband Jerry of Mesquite, Texas and grandchildren Lindsay Elise Evans and partner Joseph Smith, Chelsea Lyn Lindsey and husband Derek, Justin Wayne Griffin and wife Kelly, Jenna Lee Griffin and fiancé Bryan Garcia and six great-grandchildren. She is also survived by sisters-in-law Eunice Conner of Kennard, Texas, Mertis Goodson of Lufkin, Texas, Anna Goodson of Kennard, Texas, Nancy Prestidge of Spring, Texas and brother-in-law Edward Straubing of Siloam Springs, Arkansas, along with numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. She is preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Sherwin Straubing, parents Hill and Dollie Goodson, brothers Rolan, G.A. and O’Neil Goodson and sisters Japaline Sampsel and Linnie Graham. A memorial service will be held at Pennington Community Center, 11530 FM 358, Pennington, Texas 75856 on January 23, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. The family appreciates your thoughtfulness but cannot accept flower deliveries for this service.
