Gay (Gayl) Lynn Butler, born on June 30th, 1935 in Tyler,Texas, passed away peacefully at the age of 89 on July 16th, 2024, surrounded by her loved ones at her home in Mesquite, Texas. Gayl was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Nicholas J. Butler, and her son Scott J. Butler.
Gayl was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, finding immense joy in simple pleasures like garage sales, fishing, cooking, visiting the casino and playing bingo. However, her greatest happiness came from being surrounded by her family. Known for her sweet nature and pure heart, Gayl had a special ability to make everyone who met her instantly adore her.
Gayl is survived by her children Carol Butler of Mesquite, and Laura Gray and husband Randy of Royse City. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Shelly Booth and husband Richard of Sunnyvale, Brandy Duffy of Rockwall, Ramey Butler and wife Steffany of Quinlan, Nikki Hyatt and husband Sam of Royse City, Andrea Mayo and husband Drew Estes of Athens, Kristina Wallace and husband Tim of Rockwall, Nick Butler of Dallas, Troy Butler and wife Kendra of Scurry, Garth Butler and wife Sydnie of Rowlett, and Marissa Butler of Dallas. Gayl leaves behind 24 great-grandchildren and 9 great-great-grandchildren.
Gayl Lynn Butler's legacy is one of love, kindness and cherished memories with her family. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
