Greg was born January 2, 1964, in Houston, Texas, and passed away unexpectedly in Forney, TX, on May 29, 2025.
He was the oldest of 5 brothers and grew up in Houston, where he graduated from Cypress Creek High School in 1982.
Greg met Shelly Roberts in the spring of 1981 while she was visiting in Houston. They were just "friends" until 1984 when Shelly moved to Houston to be with Greg. They married in 1987. Cory was born in 1988 in Houston. In 1990, they moved to Pflugerville. Kyle was born in 1990 and Blake in 1995. The family moved to Tomball for 3 quick years and then finally settled in Forney in 2002, where they raised their family and made lifelong friends. Greg's pride and joy were his children.
Greg loved the outdoors - whether it was hunting, fishing, on the river, in the ocean, or working in his garden. He especially loved it when the boys were with him. He was patient and kind and always willing to help. He was the family fixer and could figure out almost anything. He was very proud that all 3 boys inherited his willingness to help.
Greg is survived by his wife, Shelly, and his children, Cory (Sara), Kyle, and Blake (Megan). He is also survived by his mother and step-father Suzy and Bill Sharrett of Houston, his father Ken Canion of Friendswood, mother-in-law Beverly Duckworth of Forney, his brothers Cliff (Katie), Steve, Dub (Neeli), Casey (Shelby), sisters-in-law Codi (Lance) Mercer, Gena (David) King, and brother-in-law Blair Thompson and a large number of nieces and nephews that he adored. He was preceded in death by his father-in-law Richard Duckworth, step-mother Sally Canion and sister-in-law Kerri Thompson.
A celebration of Greg's life will be held Saturday, July 19th, 2025, from 1 pm - 3 pm at Mustang Creek Community Church, 13851 FM 548, Forney, TX 75136
