Imogene Carpenter

Imogene Carpenter was born on August 28, 1938, in Forney, TX, and went home to be with her Heavenly Father on Saturday, July 11, 2026, surrounded by her three loving children. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Imogene's life was defined by family, softball, camping, cooking, and boasting about her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Imogene was raised in Forney where she attended First Baptist Church of Forney. After high school, she married Ned Carpenter in 1955. Together, they would share 64 years of marriage and raise three godly children. Over the years, they lived in Forney, Mesquite, Terrell, and later returned to Forney in 2006. Church was an important part of their lives as they were members at Munger Place Baptist in Dallas, Mimosa Lane Baptist in Mesquite, First Baptist Church of Forney, and, lastly, Talty Baptist Church in Talty.

Imogene worked as a bookkeeper for several different companies, including Amicable Finance, Fritz Chemicals, Christian Care Centers, and Terrell State Hospital, cultivating relationships and sharing smiles with everyone she came to know.

For most of her life, Imogene was a dedicated athlete, lettering for three years in basketball for Forney High School. She was also a "killer" left fielder on various softball teams, including the championship club team, the Forney Red Raiders, playing until she was almost 60 years old! She loved her team, and they loved her and won championships because of the team spirit that was so evident among those ladies. She and Ned also enjoyed camping, and would spend most of their family vacations every summer camping with their growing family. When she wasn't on the softball field or in the mountains camping, Imogene's favorite place to be was in her kitchen, spoiling her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren with her famous "Yummy Potatoes", strawberry cake, or the Sunday lunch fan favorite, banana pudding.

Imogene is preceded in death by her husband, Ned Wilson Carpenter; her parents, Bill and Irene Patterson; and her sister, Billie Boone. She is survived by her sisters, Betty Spotts and Kay Duckworth. She is also survived by her three children: Chuck and wife, Gina Carpenter; Kellye and husband, Randy Curtis; and Scott and wife, Angie Carpenter; her grandchildren, Brett Carpenter, Katie Murphy, Jeremy Curtis, Kayla Kitchen, Justin Carpenter, and Sara Pierson; great-grandchildren, Ava, Aria, and Dakota Murphy, Brenham Carpenter, Ashley and Kyle Curtis, Kamryn and Jonan Kitchen, and Matthew Pierson; along with numerous nieces and nephews, all a vital part of this incredible family who will greatly miss her.
