Jackie Lewis Porter of Mesquite, Texas died September 6, 2025. He was born in Flats, Texas on June 15, 1936 to Gordon Phelps Porter and Mildred McKinley Hamby. Raised in Emory, Austin, and Terrell, Texas, Jack graduated from Terrell High School in 1954. He entered East Texas State University that fall and earned a Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry in 1958. While attending East Texas, Jack met Boneta Joy Cash in 1956 and they were married in 1959. Jack went to work at Baylor University Medical Center as a Clinical Chemist in 1958 and while there, earned a Master's Degree in Chemistry in 1961. He worked in the laboratories at Baylor for fifty five years as a Clinical Chemist and a Research Chemist before retiring in 2002.

Jack was a faithful servant of God. He was a member of the Casa View Church of Christ for many years. Jack served as a Deacon for the Christian Care Center Church of Christ and in his later years, was a member of the Mesquite Church of Christ. Jack was kind, caring, and compassionate and loved his family. He always enjoyed a gathering and celebrated many birthdays, anniversaries, and holidays with his family and friends. Jack was always ready to help when someone was in need and he generously gave to benefit others. Jack enjoyed traveling in the RV with Boneta and collecting pocket knives, coins, and guns.

Jack is survived by his children: Gordon Porter and Dayna McMillan of Denton, Texas and John Porter and his wife, Karen, of Lewisville, Texas. His grandchildren: Meyla Mae Ward, Grant Hawkins and wife, Alicia, and Haley Calvin and husband, Jess. His great grandchildren: Georgia Hawkins and Wells Calvin. His brother: Gordon Phelps (Buck) Porter, Jr. and wife, Reba, of Wolfe City, Texas and a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews. He is preceded in death by Boneta, his wife of 59 years, his parents, and his sisters: Edna Lee Porter and Wilma Louise (Porter) Aston and her husband, Angus (A. W.)
